John is a commercial real estate professional with extensive experience on both the banking and ownership side. He started working in NYC during the 2008 GFC for a mortgage and credit fund, analyzing and restructuring defaulted loans and REO opportunities. Since 2015, he has been a mortgage banker serving clients throughout the United States, having closed over 500 loans in over 35 states. John’s experience ranges across all asset classes, and has helped clients close deals in retail, industrial, self-storage, hospitality, and multifamily. Of the $2 billion plus in closings, he has closed deals as small as $750,000 and deals over $100,000,000. Drawing on his years in the hedge fund world structuring capital stacks, John excels and enjoys helping clients with more complicated situations when it comes to their debt and equity needs. Part of that could be attributed to his education and early years spent in architecture, in which every project or client has a problem that needs solving.
John was raised in New York and lived in the city for 12 years after college, prior to meeting his wife in Dallas and moving there in 2017. He helped open the Slatt Capital Newport Beach office in 2020, and now is the Managing Director of the company's Dallas, Texas office.
